Question: The pattern requires 2 balls of one colour and 1 ball of another.
It asks that the two yarns be knit together.
 
Question – am I not going to run out of the second yarn halfway through?
Or is there twice the length of wool in the colour that only has one ball?
If I am knitting the two wools together I can’t help but think I ought to start with the same number of balls in each colour…
 
Answer: The one ball of yarn has more length than each of the others. Therefore, you need more than one ball of the second yarn to finish the item. This leaves you with some yarn over at the finish.
It would have been great if this garment could have been completed with only one ball of each yarn, but it is too short on that basis, it needs the extra ball to work.
 
An alternative is that you buy 2 balls of the Silkroad DK Tweed yarn only, which would look great and that would work by yarn length and garment length with no need for a third ball of yarn !
